I thought I’d stay on sketches and photos of Harlech Castle for a while. But I finally finished this drawing so I figured I’d go ahead and post it.
I shot the photo several years ago; found it while going through the extensive collection I have of unlabled and undated images.
The lights and darks in the photo, as well as the perspective, provided a good drawing exercise.
I did it in two rounds; first, an hour or so with only an HB pencil; then, weeks later, a productive two or so hours with a 2B and 4B.
It got kinda yucky toward the end; but most of it turned out OK.
I may draw it again, this time in colored pencil. It’s not a particularly colorful image, so it could be good transitional exercise for me.
